| South Beach Diet Books The South Beach diet was developed by Arthur Agatston, practicing in the Miami. It is often compared to the Atkins Diet, which is a low-carbohydrate diet. The South Beach Diet, however encourages dieters to eat "good carbohydrates" that are high in fibre or nutrition, and typically low in glycemic index (see the GI Diet Books). The South Beach diet was developed for cardiac patients to lose weight without risking ketosis.
